Ziegler sworn in; Maio returns for second term
SARASOTA COUNTY – The Board of County Commissioners recognized newly elected Christian Ziegler and welcomed back Alan Maio, who will be serving his second term, on Tuesday morning during a swearing-in ceremony.
Christian Ziegler represents District 2 and brings more than 10 years of local, state and federal government experience in Florida and is a strong advocate of making Sarasota County the premier place to work, live and retire.
“It’s a great honor and incredible opportunity to part of the Sarasota County Commission and help shape our local community. I look forward to working with every resident and do everything I can to move the community forward to continue to make Sarasota County the number one place to live, raise children, work and retire,” said Ziegler.
Ziegler holds bachelors of science degrees in criminology and political science, both from Florida State University. Ziegler and his wife Bridget, reside in Sarasota with their two daughters and will welcome their third child in March 2019.
Alan Maio returns for his second term, representing District 4. Maio was first elected to the Sarasota County Commission in 2014 and continues to represent the commission on the boards of the Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization, Visit Sarasota County and chairman of the Peace River/Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority. Maio received a bachelors of science in accounting from New Jersey’s Seton Hall University. Maio and his wife Nancy reside in Nokomis, they have three adult children and four grandchildren.
