Tampa, Fla. – Hillel Academy staff, students and families are collecting school supplies for students attending Panama City’s Holy Nativity Episcopal School, which was devastated due to the impact of Hurricane Michael.
Among items being collected for Holy Nativity Episcopal School are basic supplies such as pencils, glue, highlighters and crayons, as well as spiral notebooks, composition books, index cards and all kinds of paper. More unusual items needed are science, earth, and space materials for middle school, individual white boards for students, bulletin boards, picnic tables, benches, projectors, shade tents, folding tables and chairs, shade tents and carpet squares for students for sitting. In addition, the school requests art supplies of all kinds and books for those in grades three through eight.
Hillel Academy will send the supplies to Holy Nativity Episcopal School by the end of November.
“It is part of our tradition that when others fall down, we help to pick them up,” said Head of School Allison Oakes.
Each month, Hillel Academy collects goods for a different charity or group in need as part of its Tzedakah (Charity) Project and Kindness of Culture philosophy. The school began the year by collecting for the Joshua House. And, in October, the school collected hundreds of pacifiers for infants at St. Joseph Hospital via Emmi Grace’s Angels.
