TAMPA, Fla. (November 13, 2018) – Raising Twelve on a Nickel and a Prayer by Fran Taylor Powers and Music and Lyrics by Terez “Firewoman” Hartmann opens at Powerstories Theatre November 29 and runs through December 16. The story spans three Christmas seasons beginning in 1950 when Betty reveals to a young sailor Harold her desire of wanting twelve children. The story continues with living on a Navy paycheck, broken promises, an adventure by train cross country and the bleak Christmas of 1963 when Betty is raising children alone in a new city while Harold is at sea. The final Christmas is 1966 just before their dream could be realized, but instead they learn Betty or baby number twelve will die in childbirth. It’s a Christmas to remember.
“If you see one play this holiday season, this is the one that will warm your heart and renew your faith in the strength of love, prayer and commitment. This is a true classic that originated in Tampa and it’s perfect for the whole family.” Fran Powers, Founder of Powerstories Theatre.
Returning this year in the roles of Betty and Harold Taylor are Lisa and Omar Negron.
