Lesbian Drama Next in LGBTQ Film Series

November 13, 2018 by Post

GULFPORT, FLORIDA: The LGBTQ Resource Center at Gulfport Public Library is proud to continue its monthly LGBTQ Film Series on Thursday, December 13 with a recently released drama featuring women rekindling a childhood attraction after years of separation. The Film Series is a free gathering to watch a film in the company of friends and neighbors on the second Thursday of each month.

Each film begins at 7pm in the Friends Room at Gulfport Public Library (5501 28thAvenue South).  Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Licensing restrictions prohibit explicitly naming film titles in general press releases.  But feel free to call the Library at (727) 893-1074 for the film title and other information about the film series.  Or find titles and more information online: www.mygulfport.us/lgbtq-resources.

About the December 13 film: Rachel Weisz stars as a successful New York photographer who, hearing of the death of her father, returns to the London Jewish Orthodox community of her upbringing after having been shunned years earlier for her attraction to a childhood female friend.  Navigating a range of emotions in her old homeplace, as well as a range of attitudes from hostile to welcoming among family and former friends, the attraction to her old friend, now married, is rekindled.  Also starring Rachel McAdams.  (Rated R; Adults only suggested)

Save the date, Thursday January 10, for the next film in the series.  Thomas, a young German baker, is having an affair with Oren, an Israeli married man who has frequent business visits in Berlin. When Oren dies in a car crash in Israel, Thomas travels to Jerusalem seeking answers regarding his death. Under a secret identity, Thomas infiltrates into the life of Anat, his lover’s newly widowed wife. The encounter with the unfamiliar reality will make Thomas involved in Anat’s life in a way far beyond his anticipation, and to protect the truth he will stretch his lie to a point of no return.  (Not Rated; Adults only suggested)

Watch for announcements of other films as they are added to the series on the second Thursday of each month.
