Rissler has served with Sarasota County Government since 2016, when she was hired as the department’s deputy director. She previously worked with Visit Sarasota, and as the chief operating officer for the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center, Inc.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise science from Gettysburg College and her master’s degree in business administration from Lynn University, where she later coached collegiate-level volleyball. Rissler has also served in leadership positions with the Sarasota Family YMCA and the American Red Cross.
According to Sarasota County Administrator Jonathan Lewis, Rissler’s experience, background and long-standing ties to the community made her the ideal choice to lead the department.
“Nicole’s innovative and collaborative approach to providing world class service was key to her being named director,” Lewis said.
For Rissler, being selected is not only an honor, but an important opportunity to continue the success and innovation that Sarasota County’s parks department is known for.
“I’m thankful to be able to continue serving the community I grew up in, and to work with the amazing and talented staff who make our parks system the best in the nation,” Rissler added.
