Florida Green Building Coalition Elects Senior Officers, Announces Board

November 8, 2018 by Post

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the leading certifier of green projects in the state, has announced its executive committee and board for the coming year.

Hollywood’s Barry Faske, Faske Enterprises, has been elected president. U.S. Army Major (Ret.) Bill Kachman of DeLand will serve as vice president. Katrina Locke, Sustainability and Natural Resources Director for Volusia County in Deland is the secretary and Orlando’s Jeremy Nelson of GreenGov, LLC is treasurer.

“The board’s leadership and energy has been instrumental in promoting and maintaining “Florida Green” standards and programs throughout the state. The board makes policy, directs staff and has the ultimate responsibility for the advancement of our local mission to promote green building in Florida,” noted FGBC Executive Director C.J. Davila.

With over 18,000 certifications to date, FGBC is by far the largest certifier of green homes, communities, commercial buildings, hi-rises and local governments in Florida. FGBC’s Florida specific certification programs are the only standards developed with climate specific criteria to address issues caused by the state’s hot-humid environment, unique topography and natural disasters

Founded in 2000, FGBC certifications provide pathways to build green homes, developments, local governments, high rises and commercial buildings. The process, including low fees, is often more affordable than other certifications. The free market aspect of FGBC certifiers also keep costs reasonable.

FGBC board members include Randy Conn, ES Green & Company LLC, Tallahassee; Jim Barnes, Village of Wellington, Wellington; Mike Bonts, Mike Bonts PR, Jacksonville; Peggy Christ, Bee Green Realty LLC, Bradenton; C.J. Davila, Florida Green Building Coalition, Orlando; Arturo Griego, G3, Miami Beach; Cindy Hall, Eco Solutions Marketing, Jensen Beach; Greg Hardwick, Hardwick General Contracting, Orlando; Lara Kuleshova, City of Tallahassee, Tallahassee; Claire Lewis, University of Florida – IFAS, Gainesville; Ric Lightner, Global Sustainability Certifying Consultant, Key West; Ralph Locke, Environmental Construction & Consulting, Inc, Deland; Jeannette Moore, Green Florida Properties, St. Augustine; Lisa Pearcy, 15 lightyears, Longwood; Nate Ritter, GreenBuilt Solutions, LLC, Orlando; Diana Robinson, Manatee County Government, Bradenton; Mike Rogers, Southern Advocacy Group, Tallahassee; Mary Tappouni, Breaking Ground Contracting, Jacksonville and Kristin Triolo, Sarasota Homes International, Sarasota.
