Patrick, named after Patrick from Sponge Bob Square Pants, is a surrendered pet. He is already 10 years old and was in need of a new home. Currently residing in the “getting ready” tank he will be added to one of the larger tanks soon. Patrick’s life expectancy is between 33 and 36 years.
Meet Our Team: Alek Bussell
Alek is our resident Turtle and Tortoise keeper. He oversees the care, maintenance, and enrichment of them including our oldest rescue animal Rudolph, a 25 year old African Sulcata Tortoise. Alek has always had a love for turtles. He has participated in a population survey on the Florida native gopher tortoise and volunteers for the Sea Turtle Trackers on St Pete Beach. He is a student at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg where he is pursuing a degree in Environmental Science and Policy and hopes to pursue a career in wildlife conservation and education.
PIGGY CORNER
Hi! We are Brutus & Barley we were rescues from Mini Angels Rescue. We are now 4 months old and ready to meet visitors!
Wilbur & Sweet Pea are now almost 9 months old and love Cheerios!
They love their family and don’t like to sleep alone. Every night they go home with Travis after work.
Happy Birthday Pongo!
Pongo’s has been with us officially 4 years this month!
Also known as Black-spotted Pufferfish, the Dog-faced Pufferfish got its name from its short, dog-like snout. When stressed or threatened, it uses its highly elastic stomach and the ability to quickly ingest huge amounts of water (and sometimes air) to inflate itself into a ‘balloon’ several times its usual size to deter potential predators. – SEA
