Atlas Professional Services buys office building in Tampa for $1.45 million

November 5, 2018 by Post

Atlas Professional Services, one of the fastest growing companies in Tampa Bay, has purchased a 6,470-square-foot building at 3415 W Horatio Street in Tampa for $1.45 million. The managed service provider will relocate its headquarters from its current location in Westchase to the new building when buildout is complete.

Atlas has been leasing a 5,800-square-foot office space in Westchase for nearly five years. The new, larger space will enable Atlas to double its staff. Over the past few years, the company has ranked on multiple local, regional and national lists recognizing fast revenue growth, including the Inc. 5000.

“It was a better financial decision to own versus rent,” said Gregory Zolkos, CEO and founder of Atlas Professional Services. “Now we have the ability to be in control of our own destiny. And, we wanted to be in a business area rather than a residential community like Westchase.”

Atlas has been ranked on the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Best Places to Work for the past five years and Florida Trend’s Best Companies to Work For in Florida for the past four. Finding the right location for its current 32 employees was paramount.

“We have a lot of amenities in and around our office now, and we wanted to keep or enhance that vibe for our employees as much as possible in the new place,” said Zolkos. “There are probably 50 restaurants within a mile, a gym about a half a mile away – where we’ll pay for our staffs’ memberships – and it’s a pretty central spot for our employees, commute-wise.”

The 6,470-square-foot shell property will undergo renovations — estimated to cost $750,000 – in the coming months to meet Atlas’s needs. Renovations, which are expected to be completed this spring, will increase the property’s total square footage to 8,600 and will include creating a second story and an outdoor rooftop lounge.

“We liked buying a shell property because we can make it exactly what we want it to be,” said Zolkos. “During my due diligence process I developed a conceptual floorplan to make sure it would be the ideal choice for our needs.”

The final space will include a fairly open concept workspace to accommodate up to 65 employees, conference room, two huddle rooms, and a total of 1,300 square feet of lounge space – including the 520-square-foot rooftop lounge. Lounge spaces will include plenty of options for employees to relax during breaks and after hours, such as TVs, video-gaming stations, a billiards table and a Coca-Cola Freestyle touchscreen soda fountain.

In addition, a tech-forward virtual receptionist system will allow guests to check in upon arrival by contacting the appropriate Atlas employee via a video-conference program.

Boutique National represented the seller, Wagner Construction, in the transaction.
