St. Pete Beach, Nov. 3, 2018 – Your ticket to Chowder Challenge 5 gives you three votes to select the best entries from 24 area restaurants competing for the People’s Choice Award on Veterans Day.
Chefs will also compete for the coveted Golden Ladle and Best in Show awards chosen by this year’s three celebrity judges: Tyson Grant, executive chef of Parkshore Grill; Christian Hiller, chef of Alsace French Bistro; and foodservice culinarian Bobbie Huston.
Held rain or shine, Chowder Challenge is sponsored by the Pass-A-Grille Woman’s Club and the City of St. Pete Beach at Horan Park.
Competitors include: Bermuda’s Steak and Seafood, Chill, Crabby Bill’s, Donnie B’s, Gennaro’s, Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club, O’Maddy’s, Nori Thai, Palm Court Italian Grille, Paradise Grille, Pom Pom’s, Portofino Italian Ristorante, Rumfish Grill, Sandra’s German Restaurant, Sea Hags Bar & Grill, Shells, Snappers, St. Pete Beach Mediterranean Deli, Thai Am 2, The Brass Monkey, The Island Grille & Raw Bar, The Oyster Bar, and The Rowe Bar, at the Don Cesar.
The event kicks off with a salute to veterans color guard, singing of the national anthem and a military induction ceremony. There will be music by Nick Setteducato playing the best of the ‘60s till today; craft beers from Mastry’s Brewery and select wines, soda, water and desserts available for purchase.
Area business have donated great raffle and silent auction prizes including: a party for 20 at the Hurricane Restaurant, dinner for two with the Tampa Bay Times Food Critic, Laura Reilly, dinner for six at private beachfront home, a round of golf for four with brunch at Isla del Sol Yacht & Country Club, dinner for two with the Mayor of St. Pete Beach (he pays), and a round of golf for two at Pasadena Yacht and Country Club. There are also gift certificates to many area restaurants, Christmas and sunset cruises; two-night stays at the Sirata, Alden and Post Card Inn; gym memberships, original artwork, jewelry, car detailing; and gift baskets from Iceland, France and Italy.
