
(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 1, 2018) — The basketball program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a Military Appreciation Night at its season opening home game, Tuesday, Nov. 6, beginning with a tailgating event at 6 p.m. in the parking lot outside the Hal Chasey Gymnasium at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. The event, which includes hotdogs and hamburgers, is free for all active duty military, veterans and their families.
The Maritime Eagles, a local chapter of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, will present a color guard before the 7:05 p.m. game tipoff. During halftime, the team will host a military recognition and offer giveaways. This is a great opportunity to meet the SCF Manatees basketball team as they start their season.
Tickets are $4 for general admission and $2 for seniors and children. SCF employees and students with an SCF ID will be admitted free. All proceeds from the game will be donated to the Maritime Eagles who are raising money for a trip to Europe in the spring to learn about military history overseas.
