Florida Peninsula Insurance Company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Edison Insurance Company, are working diligently to address insurance claims resulting from Hurricane Michael. Policyholders who have experienced storm-related damage should contact Florida Peninsula right away at 866-549-9672 or www.floridapeninsula.com/claims. Edison customers should call 888-683-7971 or visit https://www.edisoninsurance.com/Claims.
Once you have reported your claim, a licensed adjuster will contact you within 48 hours to schedule an appointment to inspect the damage subject to their ability to gain access to the area. Due to the intensity of the storm, many of the most effected areas may remain closed to any non-emergency personnel. As such, our adjusters are in the area waiting for access to be granted.
As Panhandle residents begin the clean up, remediation and rebuilding process, Florida Peninsula and Edison offer the following safety tips and information:
• Avoid downed power lines, sharp objects, and dangerous debris. They are the most common culprits for injury.
• When beginning the cleanup process, practice caution, and wear protective clothing, gloves and eyewear.
• For those who still have no power, carbon monoxide poisoning from generators poses a severe danger after the storm. Be sure portable generators are kept outside, at least 20 feet away from doors and windows.
• Avoid using candles, lighters, or matches. Open flames could ignite if there is a gas or propane leak. Use flashlights and battery-operated light sources instead.
Storm victims should be wary of any third party (contractor, public adjuster or even an attorney) with contracts in hand promising to make repairs or represent your interest. As part of their Managed Repair Programs, Florida Peninsula and Edison provide a pre-approved list of licensed contractors to ensure the work is done right.
For homeowners who experienced flooding from external sources, such as storm surge and local flooding, please contact your flood carrier for assistance.
“Our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of our customers. In the aftermath of this truly devastating storm we want to reassure all policyholders that we are standing by to assist in the recovery and rebuilding process,” said Clint Strauch, President of Florida Peninsula Insurance Company and Edison Insurance Company.
Florida Peninsula and Edison Insurance Companies provide homeowners with coverage-rich policies, as well as offering flood protection and partnering with independent agents throughout the state who can ensure policyholders have the coverage they need.
