I am honored to be selected to exhibit with 11 other artist in this prestigious event. My recent work has sought to explore and further develop rust printing as a part of my creative process. I am currently interested most in the photographic potential of the process. Steel plates are developed similarly as photo-negatives and printed on paper. Experimentation with a variety of resist materials and manipulating the surface of the plate is my approach to developing the imagery. Also, the use of multiple layer printing to darken tones and develop contrast is explored in most recent works. I would like to discover the degree of fidelity that can be achieved to the original source photo while maintaining the ethereal quality that is truly unique to rust printing.
I am currently working on a new series of images that explore chess pieces and pears as symbols for power, control, vulnerability etc. Compositional arrangements are intended to imply subtle narratives of manipulation and betrayal.
