OSPREY, FL (October 29th, 2018)- After a successful Head of the Charles regatta, with one 1stplace and one 3rd place finish, Sarasota Crew varsity, novice and middle school athletes raced at the Halloween Regatta at the Bypass Canal in Tampa October 27th. Sarasota Crew raced against 21 other teams and had 86 entries in 47 different events. Varsity and novice athletes raced 4,000 meters and the middle school athletes raced 2,000m.
“The Halloween Regatta is a terrific regatta to open the season with our full team. The venue is full of energy, the student-athletes get a great experience against the top teams in our region” , said Head Coach Casey Galvanek. “You really can’t ask for more. The regatta puts no limits on entries which allows for our entire team, minus our elementary school student-athletes, to participate in a well run competitive atmosphere. We left the Halloween Regatta with great energy and lots of positive forward momentum”
Sarasota Crew came home with 38 first place finishes, 7 second place finishes, and 7 third place finishes. Taking with them the Team Points Trophy for the seventh straight year.
