(Venice, Fla., Oct. 25, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Green Team will host a Halloween-themed talk and training on “Surviving the Apocalypse” at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, Building 800, Selby Room. The event is free and open to the public.
Each year, the Green Team sponsors a discussion about common fears and brings in an expert to allay those concerns. This year’s speaker is Steven Claytor, owner and lead instructor at North Florida Survival and Adventure. Claytor has been teaching primitive wilderness survival skills, performing emergency preparedness consultations and leading group adventures for over five years. He is a certified emergency medical responder and was trained by the Aboriginal Living Skills School. He also trained formally with Cody Lundin, a veteran survivalist instructor and one of the hosts of the Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival.”
Claytor will discuss basic survival skills and living off the land. The SCF Venice Food Forest Club also will be distributing samples from the campus food forest.
