Tampa, Fla. – The Kiwanis Club of Tampa along with The Kiwanis
Foundation are celebrating their Jubilee Year with the 50th Annual Chicken BBQ
Fundraiser at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday, October 25th. On-site
pick-up is available from 11:00AM to 3:00PM. Tickets are $10.00 each and each
meal includes half a barbecued chicken, potato chips, dinner roll and cookie.
“We are celebrating our 50th year of Kiwanis Chicken BBQ Fundraiser,” explains
an enthusiastic Allen Keller, BBQ Fundraiser Chairperson. “We fire up the grills
starting at 2AM and the volunteers’ activities continue throughout the day until
over 10,000+ BBQ meals have been packed, delivered or picked up. Our entire
club of 124 members and an extensive team of volunteers including many area
high school Key Clubs from Alonso, Blake, Cambridge, Academy of Holy Names,
Hillsborough, Jesuit and Tampa Bay Tech along with the USF Circle K join
together for our biggest fundraising event of the year.”
The Kiwanis Club of Tampa was organized in 1919 as the first Kiwanis Club in
Florida and their members pride themselves on their “hands-on” philosophy of
civic involvement and community outreach. Join them for a lunch meeting any
Wednesday at noon at the Tampa Club in downtown Tampa. In the past decade,
The Kiwanis Foundation has provided $526,000 in community/discretionary
grants. They most recently hosted a highly successful Incredible Duck Race in
August at Curtis Hixon Park that raised over $50,000.
