
PHSC Women’s Volleyball Player Church Named National Defensive Player of the Week and Player Epstein FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week
Pasco-Hernando State College women’s volleyball team clinched the regular season FCSAA Region 8 Division II Sun-Lakes Conference with a 3-2 win at Lake Sumter College last week. The Bobcats went 9-0 in conference play and wrap up the regular season by hosting St. Petersburg College (Sophomore Night) on Tuesday, Oct. 23 and traveling to Santa Fe College on Thursday, October 25.
Morgan Church, was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Defensive Player of the Week and FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week in women’s volleyball for games played October 8-14. Church, a 5’3″ sophomore libero, averaged 8.3 digs per set over six sets in two total matches during the voting period. She recorded 25 digs in each match, including three entries into the 25-Dig Club over the last three matches, continuing to pace among the top Region 8 players with 522 on the season.
Abby Epstein, a middle hitter sophomore, was named Florida College System Activities Association FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Division II Player of the Week in women’s volleyball for games played October 8-14. Epstein, averaged 2.8 kills, 1.3 digs and 4.8 points and posted a .307 hitting percentage in six sets over two matches during the voting period.
PHSC will host the NJCAA Region 8 DII Volleyball Championship, November 3–4 at the West Campus in New Port Richey. The winner of the tournament will advance to the National Tournament in Charleston, WV.
