Business and Professional Women (BPW)/St. Petersburg-Pinellas honors National Business Women’s Week™ with a Forum celebrating workplace gender equity in action.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (September 3, 2018) – Workplace gender equity comes about both organically and systemically. BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas (BPW) celebrates four Pinellas County organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to workplace gender equity to build awareness for National Business Women’s Week™. Hear the stories of these organizations that are in different business sectors and of varying sizes from women who have succeeded in those organizations. Each will share both their individual story and that of the organization. The BPW 2018 Working Women’s Forum: Gender Equity in Action will be held on Wednesday October 24, 2018, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at The Club at Treasure Island.
Tanya Hollins, Regional Executive Director, PACE Center for Girls, will moderate a diverse panel of women from organizations in different business sectors and of varying sizes, all of which have demonstrated a commitment to gender equity. The organizations and panelists are: Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, Kim Woollard, Chief Human Resources Officer; Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Major Stefanie Campbell, Commander, Support Services Bureau; Sabal Trust Company, Jennifer Garbowicz, CFA, CIPM, Principal; and Tech Data, Ameerah Mukayed, CDP, Diversity & Inclusion Specialist.
Join us at The Club at Treasure Island with Networking at 5:30 p.m. The BPW Working Women’s Forum begins at 6:00 p.m. Complimentary appetizers and 1 drink ticket are included ($30 Members; $35 non-members; $40 at the door). Register at www.BPWForum.com.
“National Business Women’s Week provides BPW with a platform to showcase the achievements of women and organizations in different industries,” said Sheila Barry-Oliver, Ed.D., 2018-2019 President of BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas. “The 2018 Working Women’s Forum will showcase successful women at four organizations that are committed to gender equity.”

About Business and Professional Women (BPW)/St. Petersburg-Pinellas
BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas is the local chapter of BPW/FL. Founded in 1919 at the national and state levels, and in 1966 at the local level, BPW crosses generations, occupations and political parties. BPW’s mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information. General membership meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House in Downtown St. Petersburg. Signature activities for 2018-19 include the Working Women’s Forum on October 24, Unhappy Hour observing Equal Pay Day in April 2019, and the Equality Day Tea in August 2019. The 2018-2019 BPW local organization president is Sheila Barry-Oliver, Ed.D., community leader and retired management consultant and educator.
