The Achieva Box Car Rally, one of the biggest annual community events in downtown Clearwater, will return for a ninth year this Oct. 27. Each year, the event raises tens of thousands of dollars for Pinellas County Schools. Registration for teams is now open and will continue through October 13. A limited number of late registrations will be accepted from Oct. 14-21 at an additional cost.
The family friendly event is free to watch and draws more than 2,500 spectators to downtown Clearwater. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests can enjoy nearly 300 box car races, featuring All-American Soap Box Derby-style vehicles as well as homemade cars. The event will also feature a food truck rally, vendor exhibits and a Kids Fun Zone with inflatables, balloon artists, face painters and much more.
“The Box Car Rally is one of our most popular community events. We love seeing the way it brings families together for some healthy competition and spectators get to have a little old-school fun,” said Achieva Credit Union Chief Marketing Officer David Oak. “But the real thrill is, each year, more and more money is raised to support our local classrooms.”
Achieva Credit Union has held the Box Car Rally every year since 2010. In total, the foundation has contributed more than $175,000 through the event to benefit Pinellas County schools. These direct grants are administered by the Achieva Foundation, a 501(c)3 Corporation. Overall, the foundation has raised more than $355,000 for local school classrooms through their sponsorship of community events.
