TARPON SPRINGS, Florida – October 15, 2018 Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts (TSLCA) will host its 23rd Annual Outdoor Music Festival on October 20, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. at Tarpon Springs High School. The Outdoor Music Festival is the Conservatory’s largest event and every Conservatory student spends some part of the day demonstrating Leadership by working at the event. Conservatory students learn that true leadership is service and they have the opportunity to apply what they learn from the Conservatory’s Leadership curriculum to the planning and implementation of a World Class Marching Band Competition. The students give back to the Florida Marching Band Community by working to create an experience for visiting marching bands that mirrors the experiences they are privileged to have had at the Bands of America competitions in Atlanta, Orlando and Indianapolis.
Even after they graduate from the Conservatory, students continue to practice Leadership by coming back and giving back at rehearsals, competitions and events including the Outdoor Music Festival. In the evening, Alumni students take over running the festival, so that Conservatory students can rehearse and perform and Conservatory parents can watch their children perform.
The Outdoor Music Festival is an all day High School Marching Band Competition which brings together schools from across Florida and across the Nation. Traveling from as far away as Georgia, 19 bands will experience a World Class Marching Band Competition featuring National Bands of America judges. Several of the competing bands are returning Champions in their classes and the Bands of America 2014 Grand National Champion, 2017 Atlanta Super Regional Champion and 2018 Orlando Regional Champion Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble will perform in exhibition at the end of the evening.
The Outdoor Music Festival is a family friendly event that offers band themed souvenirs, t-shirts, mouthwatering food and beverages and free parking. General admission tickets are $15 and discount tickets are available for children, seniors and military personnel. Tickets and programs may be purchased at the event.
