 Announcing Evening Mist
Pillow Galleria’s Latest Creation
Pillow Galleria is excited to announce the newest addition to its Gallery of pillows…EVENING MIST. This beautifully upcycled pillow uses eleven different fabrics each with a unique texture and hand (how it feels). As you know all pillows from Pillow Galleria are not only custom designed, hand cut, and hand sewn, but all the trimmings are uniquely designed, and hand applied. Each side is a separate design, so you have two pillow looks in one!!!
Our first photograph from Elle Decor shows a warm and tropical bedroom. The

celadon green tones in the room are a perfect backdrop for Evening Mist. Design, however, can always be improved or altered.   Let’s look at what changes might be made for a less monochromatic and more interesting space.

The wallcovering on the ceiling is a wonderful idea and since the ceilings are vaulted a warm and tropical feel to the room is created. Notice the arc curves in the wallcovering design plus the vertical lines of the area rug along with the horizontal lines on the wall above the headboard. The design lines in Evening Mist replicate those very styles…vertical on one side with curved and horizontal on the other. Looking closely, the blue color in the table skirts (yes, there is one on either side of the bed), the wall covering and the drapery/shade fabric design in a minimal way.
As we survey the room, what changes might we consider for this soft and inviting environment? Beginning with the flooring…why not add another smaller area rug which would be located under the bed and extended area. Colors might include the blue, neutrals, and celadon colors. Why not add a spicy color like deep rose, or an antique bronze? What about pattern…a softly patterned geometric which works with the pattern on the ceiling would be good. Details are important. Think about neutral lamp shades with banding in the blue, the patterned fabric and the bold accent color. And of course, Evening Mist would love accompanying pillows on the bed in the tones used throughout the room. Oh, one last idea…add a folded coverlet in tones you prefer located at the bottom of the bed. Great for afternoon naps and addition of color. Go ahead and enjoy…a room of rest and repose.

The second photograph from House Beautiful shows a small seating area which could be found in many corners of a home. Considering the brown and ivory tones in the space, we have a monochromatic feeling…. with just one plumb of color with the celadon/seagrass colored armoire.

Just as it is, Evening Mist would be very much at home in this cozy space and yet, what if we were to make some room changes? Painting the wall, a color tone maybe a third the depth of the current color would create a less heavy and more inviting space. Throws, each of a different design placed on the back of the chairs along with Evening Mist and companion pillows of celadon, bronze tones, and ivories at the seating area.
Another place for an artful accessory is atop the armoire. How about an artful piece of your choice in a striking color along with a plant such as an Ivy which hangs over the sides of the cabinet? And of course, if the entire room was in the photograph we could elaborate on our design changes, however, we have plenty for this small space to feel cozier and inviting.
Go ahead, be creative, think what makes you peaceful. Claim your own design style and be proud of it!!!!!

Think about the styling of your room. Does it have pattern and texture? Could you add another element of surprise? Here are a couple of thoughts. If you have a “sporty” space think about a combination of varied sizes of plaid…all in the same color tone.   For a “dressier” space how about combining florals, textures and stripes… all in the same color family creating an eclectic feel to the space.

Upcycling
Upcycling” has become the category for the fashion and interior design industries. However, don’t forget many of us have used the term “repurpose” for a longer period. Regardless of which term you use we are all remembering to think before we toss and use again when we can…for the good of our environment!!!!
