SARASOTA, FL – Attorney Bradley J. Ellis has been appointed to the 12th Judicial Circuit’s Local Professionalism Panel (LPP). Chief Judge Charles E. Williams signed an administrative order in July, which increased membership on the LPP from nine to 14 members. Ellis will serve a three-year term. Also added to the panel were Laurie Sams of Van Winkle & Sams, P.A.; Mary Hawk of Porges, Hamlin, Knowles & Hawk; and Eric Werbeck of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
The Florida Supreme Court established the LPP as a means of countering unprofessional behavior. Each judicial circuit has a LPP comprised of local attorneys who have been appointed for this purpose. Complaints about perceived unprofessional behavior by a lawyer may be made by a member of the public, by another lawyer, or by a member of the judiciary, and may be made informally by phone or more formally by email or regular mail. A local panel member will attempt to resolve a complaint informally if possible, or may choose to refer it to the Attorney Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP) for further action.
Ellis concentrates his legal practice in the areas of land use and zoning, construction, governmental liability, commercial and general litigation, and appeals. He advises a wide range of clients on legal matters relating to real estate, permitting, planning, development, and environmental issues.
