Event is latest in series of hit shows to visit Tampa and will likely sell out
TAMPA, Fla. (October 17, 2018) –WUSF Public Media will proudly host a live performance of the hugely popular national radio show Science Friday on November 17 at the historic Tampa Theatre. This event is the latest live event that WUSF has brought to Tampa, including Snap Judgment and Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me.
Broadcast across the country on National Public Radio, the Science Friday program is one of NPR’s most popular shows and is especially timely with recent science news such as the award of the Nobel Prize for Physics.

Science Friday was brought to Tampa in large part from a Title Sponsor, Elizabeth Moore of Bradenton, a long-time public radio supporter with an avid interest in science, history, education and the environment. Other major supporters include Bristol-Myers Squibb, HCI and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay.
“I am thrilled that Ira Flatow is coming to host his show Science Friday in Tampa,” Elizabeth Moore said. “I listen to his show nearly every week and learn so much about current topics in science. This show helps us lay people understand our world and give us tools to take action. My favorite part is Good Thing Bad Thing, and this event is a really good thing! I listen to WUSF all day and all night with All Night Jazz. I love the NPR news coverage with unbiased un-sensationalized news coverage.”
The 90-minute Science Friday live show features live music, props, video screenings and science demonstrations.
The radio and live performance is hosted by veteran science correspondent Ira Flatow, who is also the founder of a non-profit science education organization, and a one-time guest star on the CBS science comedy show The Big Bang Theory.
Tickets to the event range from $25 to $50, plus applicable fees, and a limited number of VIP tickets are priced at $128.50 that include access to a cast party after the event. Ticket sales are going quickly. To purchase tickets, click here: wusf.org/scifri.
