Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino works to protect and serve our community — and that includes dogs as well on Nov. 5 when DiPino will be the Honorary Chair of the “Puttin’ On the Poodle” fundraising luncheon presented by Florida Poodle Rescue. A lifelong lover of poodles — she’s had three — DiPino will kick off the event with opening remarks. The speaker for the luncheon is Clémence von Mueffling, author of “Ageless Beauty The French Way” (2018, St. Martin’s Press). “Puttin’ On the Poodle” will be held 11:30 am to 2 pm at Michael’s on East, 1212 East Ave. South, Sarasota. Individual tickets start at $85 and include a hardcover copy of von Mueffling’s book. Tickets and sponsorship tables may be purchased online at http://www.floridapoodlerescue.org/events, or by calling 941-341-0047.
Now in its fifth year, “Puttin’ On the Poodle” raises funds to help rescue, foster, and find forever-families for abused poodles and other dogs throughout Florida. Chief DiPino’s affection for poodles made her a natural choice for Honorary Chair. Her current dog is a seven-year-old female poodle named Sea-Sea who, appropriately enough, counts paddle boarding in Sarasota bay among her activities. Partial to poodles because she finds them smart, loyal, and protective without being aggressive, DiPino also appreciates the breed because it is hypoallergenic. “Poodles have hair, not fur,” she said, “so they don’t trigger my allergies or sneezing.”
Clémence von Mueffling, whose mother and grandmother were both beauty editors for French Vogue magazine, will offer insider beauty tips during her talk. She is the founder of the online beauty magazine “Beauty and Well-Being” (beautyandwellbeing.com).
The event will include a silent auction of fine specialty items, as well as a live auction of luxurious vacation getaways. Additional items for sale will include private label Florida Poodle Rescue wines, 2019 poodle calendars, clothing, and poodle-themed memorabilia. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit’s mission of protecting and providing medical care to poodles, poodle mixes, and other small dogs, across the Sunshine State.
