Here’s What’s Happening:
St. Petersburg City Theatre will stage A Christmas Carol as the Holiday Presentation of its 94th season.
Scrooge, Tiny Tim, a host of beloved characters and strolling carolers come to life in this spectacular production of the most loved holiday story of all time. In one night Scrooge sees his past, present and future come to haunt him and discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
A Christmas Carol was written 172 years ago and yet it feels as if it could have been ripped right from today’s headlines. Greed and selfishness still plague us. Wonton avarice abounds. However, each year we come together to celebrate Christmas and once again we reach out to one another with charity and forgiveness. This was true in 1843 and is still true today. The St. Petersburg City Theatre’s version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol reminds us of the importance of compassion and love for humanity that should be pertinent every day of the year.
Director David Middleton has assembled a cast of seasoned performers from around the Tampa Bay area. The production features a cast of 45, many of which are family units performing together. These plus a cast of other veteran actors add a special touch to this adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It’s a delightful way to celebrate the Christmas season with the entire family.
Special Tribute Performance: Thursday, December 6th, the show will be performed in tribute to many local service organizations. Their volunteers, families and beneficiaries will be invited to this special performance as a community outreach thanking them for their continued support of St. Petersburg and its people.
