Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office Raises $7,680.32 for AFIRE of Pasco County

October 5, 2018 by Post

During the month of August AFIRE of Pasco County was the featured charitable giving organization at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. AFIRE of Pasco County is a day-training program for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. It is geared specifically for people 22 years of age and older who have completed all school district programs for individuals with disabilities. The overall purpose of the program is to help promote independence for individuals with disabilities with a focus on improving their ability to fully function in the community.

“At AFIRE of Pasco County, we’ve always been fiscally responsible,” states Denise Haystrand, executive director of AFIRE of Pasco County. “As a small non-profit, we have to be. When we found out that we needed three new roofs we didn’t know where to turn. We are so humbled that Mike Fasano, Greg Giordano and others chose us to be represented as your charity of the month. Not only did the staff of the Tax Collectors offices respond, but the residents of Pasco County responded as well and answered our cry for help. Also, thanks to Alan Bartlett and Bartlett Roofing in replacing our roofs. On behalf of our students, staff and Board of Directors, we thank you from our hearts!”

“Dating back to my earliest days in the Florida Legislature I and my staff have worked with AFIRE of Pasco County to help them serve as many individuals as possible,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “The work the dedicated staff and volunteers of AFIRE of Pasco County do to provide unique services and opportunities to their students is the perfect example of what a community organization is all about. I am thrilled that they were able to complete the roof work and pay off the cost of such an expensive project. Thank you to everyone in our community who came into our offices to make a donation, or who mailed in a check to help offset the cost of this project. To a smaller organization such as AFIRE of Pasco County every dollar truly does count.”
