SARASOTA COUNTY- The entire family is invited to a enjoy a fun-filled and
educational day at the annual fire prevention week open house, sponsored by Sarasota County Emergency Services.

The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Fire Station No. 5, 400 N. Beneva Road. Refreshments will be served.
Sarasota County Fire Department is asking residents to “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere,” which is this year’s theme.
Sarasota County Fire Department encourages residents to:
- Look for places fire could start. Identify any possible fire hazards and take care of them.
- Listen for the sound of the smoke alarm. You could have only minutes to escape safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Also make sure your family has a safe meeting place a safe distance away from the house.
- Learn two ways out of every room. Make sure all doors and windows leading outside open easily and are free of clutter.
This year’s event will include live fire demonstrations, games, fire trucks and rescues, 9-1-1’s Red E. Fox, Terry Telephone and much more. Bring a camera for photo opportunities with firefighters.
