SARASOTA, Fla. – The Team Tony Cancer Foundation, a Sarasota-based nonprofit organization that provides free peer-to-peer cancer support and resources to cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers in the local community, is unveiling the activities that will await Gran Fondo Sarasota event attendees and guests during the PGT Innovations Finish Line Party.
The Finish Line Party, hosted and sponsored by PGT Innovations for the fourth year, will feature the Chefs2U and Roaming Hunger food trucks, Carolina’s Italian Water Ice, beer and other refreshments and a variety of vendors, such as Orangetheory Fitness, LA Fitness, Endurance House Sarasota, Friends of The Legacy Trail and Stretch Zone.
Family-friendly activities include dragon boat and kayak rides and a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) junior obstacle course for children set up by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
“We are proud to host and sponsor the Finish Line Party for the fourth year,” said PGT Innovations CEO and President Jeff Jackson. “Supporting much-needed and worthy nonprofits in our community, such as the Team Tony Cancer Foundation, ties strongly into our core values as a company, but it’s also very meaningful for our entire team, who truly want to make a difference.”
The first-ever Gran Fondo Sarasota will take place on October 7 at Nathan Benderson Park. The nonprofit’s annual Cycle of Life bike ride has been transitioned to this one-day cycling event. More than 350 riders have already signed up to ride one of the event’s four courses: the 100-mile Gran, 66-mile Medio, 33-mile Piccolo and 8-mile Corto cruiser ride.
Cyclists will depart from the park between 7 a.m. – 11 a.m., depending on their chosen distance, with the 100-mile riders leaving first. Joey Panek, the producer of the Suncoast View on WWSB ABC7, will act as the event’s emcee, letting the crowd know about the various happenings at the PGT Innovations’ Finish Line Party. Panek will also recognize cyclists as they approach the finish line and will lead the crowd in cheering the riders on to finish the course.
Gran Fondo Sarasota course registration fees range from $25.00 – $148.50, depending on the course selected, and day-of reservation will be permitted.
