OSPREY, FL (October 2nd, 2018)- Sarasota Crew Masters athletes competed in the World Rowing Masters Regatta at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL September 27th-30th
Races were 1,000m in all sculling and sweep events. 366 teams comprised of nearly 2,000 athletes from all over the world raced in 2,937 different entries.
20 Sarasota Crew Masters Rowers competed, representing Sarasota Crew and the United States in more than 40 races. Sarasota Crew Masters brought home 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal in this championship event. Several Sarasota Crew Masters also competed in composite boats with other teams, and won 3 additional gold medals.
“Hours upon hours of practice, training, and hard work finally culminated into an amazing World Rowing Masters Regatta this weekend. It’s amazing to see the product of all the preparation pay off on race day.” stated Sarasota Crew Masters coach Jon Campaña, “ We couldn’t be more proud of our adult athletes who train so hard while also managing their careers and families.
This weekend’s successes are a testament to that dedication.”
The World Rowing Masters Regatta marks the end of the Sarasota Crew masters 2017-2018 season, they will start their 2018-2019 racing season November 3rd at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN.
