LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Shawna Brown recently joined Halfacre Construction Company as an assistant project manager in the commercial construction company’s Lakewood Ranch-based office.
A procurement management professional with a demonstrated ability to significantly reduce procurement costs by standardizing processes, negotiating favorable terms and streamlining supplier channels, Brown brings more than nine years of experience to Halfacre Construction Company.
“I joined the team at Halfacre Construction because I wanted to expand my skills and learn about new aspects of the construction world,” said Brown, a LeRoy, N.Y. native. “To me, Halfacre Construction is a solid, hometown company with a great reputation that invests in its employees and is heavily involved in the community. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and growing with their team in an office culture that really resonated with me.”
Prior to joining Halfacre Construction Company, Brown held several purchasing manager roles with regional homebuilders. In her various positions, she negotiated the supplies and services for multimillion- dollar custom homes and commercial interior tenant developments, managed the warranty process and built effective supply chain partnerships, achieved a budget margin accuracy of 1.5 percent variance and developed and led a new department that liaised processes and paperwork between suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
In 2018, she helped establish the National Association of Home Building’s Professional Women in Building Council of Sarasota, and she is currently pursuing a Florida Building Contractor (CBC) license.
She attended the University of South Florida and earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies.
