Dr. Alan Wolfelt is a respected grief counselor, educator, and author. He founded the Center for Loss & Life Transition more than 25 years ago to offer education and support to grieving people, as well as caregivers and bereavement counselors. He is known around the world for his compassionate messages of hope and healing and has written many bestselling books and other resources. His website is: https://www.centerforloss.com/.
As many people struggle with grief and suffering in their lives, Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes sponsors this annual presentation by Dr. Wolfelt as a gift to our community. Dr. Wolfelt addresses many types of grief, such as grief in aging, job loss, and more, but his primary focus is on the loss of loved ones and caring for others during times of loss.
“Most people find it difficult to talk about their grief or even to know what to say to someone who is grieving. We consider it a privilege to work with people during their times of loss, but we know they need on-going support and coping mechanisms,” said Trey Hall, Gentry-Morrison Funeral Director. “Dr. Wolfelt offers an inspiring message of compassion, and we are proud to host him in Lakeland.”
In partnership, Good Shepherd Hospice offers free continuing education hours (CEUs) to clinical caregivers who attend. Three contact hours are available from the Florida Board of Nursing for nurses and certified nursing assistants and from the Florida Board of Clinical Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counselors.
The program is free and open to all. Registration is requested online at gentry-morrison.com or by calling (863) 688-7679.
