Local Tampa Heights community center holds space for families going through pregnancy or infant loss this October. In 1988 President Reagan proclaimed the entire month of October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage or infant loss. It is a staggering statistic and goes to show how often loss is experienced. However, this is still something that is rarely talked about or shared in our society which leaves those affected with feelings of shame, anger, and loneliness. One way to cope with a loss is to talk about it, make an effort not to isolate yourself and to look for support from others.
As part of our mission at the Community Roots Collective we honor October as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness month. We invite you to join the several local events hosted by the Roots and other local support services this October to hold space for you in your loss journey.
This year we will be sharing space again with our friends from the local chapters of A.M.E.N.D. Tampa and HOPE Mommies Tampa Bay. We also join The Finley Project and Full Cycle Loss Support for an informal heart sharing circle this year. Please read about the events below and if you are experiencing or have experienced loss know there is support for you in your community.
