St. Petersburg, FL (September 28, 2018) – The City of St. Petersburg’s CareFest 2018 will take place Saturday, September 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – the event starts and ends at Lake Vista Park, 1401 62nd Ave. S.Hundreds of volunteers will participate in various projects, yard work, painting, minor home repairs, neighborhood cleanups and more throughout St. Petersburg neighborhoods.
Presented by Somebody Cares Tampa Bay under the umbrella of CareFest USA, the annual week of compassion-related activities culminates with a day of service that gives back to the community – benefitting individual homeowners, neighborhoods, parks, and non-profit organizations.
Clean-up opportunities are as follows:
- Bartlett Park neighborhood cleanup, around Bartlett Park Community Resource Center building, 1600 Dr. MLK Street South (9th St. S.), St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Boy Scout Troop 263 members will be pruning vegetation, mulching and cleaning.
- Free Dog Wash at Gladden Park, 3901 30th Avenue North, 33713. Hosted by Disston Heights Civic Association in partnership with Friends of Strays.
- Cleanup, restoration, and painting of concrete identity markers throughout the area, 777 29th Avenue North, 33704. Crescent Heights Neighborhood Association project with youth volunteers from YOSPACE (Youth of St. Pete Actively Engaged).
- Trash cleanup around Mystic Lake, intersection of Mystic Lake Drive N. and Mystic Lake Terrace N. (near 2nd Street and 69th Avenue North), 33702. Adopted by Mystic Lake Neighborhood Association.
- Paint project for homeowner at 1934 30th Street South, 33712. Adopted by City’s Neighborhood Team and Mayor’s Office group of volunteers.
