
Firm Adds Health Care Transactional Attorney Kristen A. Murphy in Tampa
Tampa, Fla. – September 27, 2018 –Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Kristen A. Murphy has joined the firm’s Tampa office as a transactional attorney in its national Health Care practice.
Her hire signals the strategic growth of the firm’s notable health care practice, following four recent new hires: Jonathan “Tre” Dixon, former senior vice president of compliance, legal, and risk management at Tampa General Hospital; Marguerita Brunson Sims , former senior corporate counsel at WellCare Health Plans Inc.; Emil Hirsch , former partner at Polsinelli; and Megan K. Dhillon, former associate at Hancock, Daniel, & Johnson, P.C.
Murphy’s practice focuses on health care transactions. She represents a wide range of health care clients including physicians, group practices, hospitals, managed care plans, health systems, health care clinics, nursing homes, transitional living facilities, and continuing care retirement communities. Her experience includes negotiating and drafting employment, professional services, independent contractor, physician recruitment, management, operation transfer, and business associate agreements. Murphy has also addressed issues related to licensing; Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement; Stark Law, anti-kickback, fraud and abuse; and HIPAA and HITECH.
Prior to joining the firm, Murphy practiced at Smith Hulsey & Busey in Jacksonville. Previously, Murphy served as a summer extern to The Honorable Michael J. Newman in the Southern District Court of Ohio.
Murphy earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and her B.S., cum laude, from the University of Florida.
She is a member of The Florida Bar, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
