Tampa, Fla. (September 25, 2018) – GTE Financial is featured in the September issue of Forbes magazine as a gold level employer, which is the highest status that the American Heart Association can rank an organization, for their company culture of health. The credit union was the only credit union in the United States to achieve gold status.
GTE Financial President & CEO Brian Best said “I’m very proud of our success with the culture and commitment to each other that we have established. Focusing on our employees, their health and the culture at GTE will pay dividends towards our organizational and personal life success.”
In the past year, GTE Financial added wellness time off to its already robust employee benefits package, which pays staff for up to four hours for any wellness activity they may need. GTE also launched Vitality, an interactive app that tracks wellness goals and rewards participants with points. This employee health portal has received more than 61% employee registrations.
Also, the credit union developed an internal program called GTE LiveWell. It was designed to engage employees, bringing them one step closer to their wellness goals. As part of the initiative, on October 29, 2018, GTE Financial will offer employees free mammograms. A mobile mammography bus will be onsite to conduct screenings.
The American Heart Association allows organizations to qualify for Gold, Silver and Bronze level recognition, based on total Index score. The Workplace Health Achievement Index was called for and tested by the American Heart Association’s CEO Roundtable to provide employers with best practices to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of workplace health programs.
The American Heart Association Workplace Health Achievement Index is a scored self-assessment based on best practices to holistically evaluate the culture, structure, processes, and outcomes of your workplace health program. Index reports indicate the levels to which you’ve successfully integrated the culture of health within your workplace, and offer constructive feedback on where you can make improvements.
