SCORE Manasota Will Introduce “Exit Strategy Canvas” at 9/25 Event

September 20, 2018 by Post

(SARASOTA, Fla., September 20, 2018) A new tool to help business owners engage in critical thinking and planning for selling or transitioning their business will be introduced at a free Success Strategies for Business Owners Meetup on September 25.

“Exit Strategy Imperative” will provide insights into why it’s important to have an exit strategy and introduce the new one-page EXIT STRATEGY CANVASTM that was developed by SCORE Manasota to provide business owners with a detailed exit roadmap to help plan for a successful exit – which may happen voluntarily or as a result of health or unexpected outside factors.

By planning well in advance, an owner can maximize business value and prepare for future needs. As business growth accelerates and owner equity builds, the exiting process increases in complexity. The ESC™ instructions contain most exit options, along with alternative strategies and considerations.

This session will cover business valuation, how to position your business for a sale, and how to improve your business using the Exit Strategy Canvas tool. Attendees will also learn about getting help from a SCORE mentor and applying for acceptance into the chapter’s ESC program.

Presenters Dennis Zink and Peter Gruits, both certified SCORE mentors, were instrumental in developing the new Exit Strategy Canvas, along with a team of local SCORE volunteers. Zink, chair of SCORE Manasota, says, “SCORE has been known for helping with business startup and development of existing businesses, and Exit Strategy Canvas was designed to help with the third leg of ownership – figuring out how to prepare for an exit that will realize the full equity of an established business.”

This free event is sponsored by SCORE Manasota, Manatee County Public Library Information Services, and Manatee County Economic Development Division. The Friends of the Central Library will serve refreshments.

The Meetup will be held from 11:30 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, September 25, at Manatee County Downtown Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. West, Bradenton.

Registration is requested and is available at https://www.manasota.score.org.
