SAINT PETERSBURG, FL, September 17, 2018— Gulfcoast Legal Services (GLS) is celebrating 40 years of providing legal aid services by kicking off its first annual fundraising event. GLS provides legal services to low-income individuals needing representation in domestic violence/family law cases, senior services, tax issues, SSI/disability issues, consumer matters, immigration and human trafficking matters, housing, eviction, and foreclosure problems.

“Justice, Soul & Rock ‘n’ Roll” is the first ever battle of the bands fundraiser hosted by GLS. Lawyer bands, bands made up of at least one lawyer, and a band made up of Stetson Law professors and students, will compete against each other for the opportunity to battle against a doctor band in the final round.   The winner gets the top prize and bragging rights for the next year. The event will be hosted by WMNF’s host of Latina 54, Franco Silva, and Tampa Bay area multi-media specialist and entrepreneur, Andrew Blikken. A three-person panel made up of the Hon. Amy Williams of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Attorney Norman Harris of Tampa, and musician and Creative Clay instructor, Emily Turnage of St. Petersburg, will select the winners of each round of the lawyer battles. The final round will be decided by the audience. Ticket holders will indulge in great live music, catered food from Rain Japanese Sushi Bar & Thai, and a cash bar.

The event is Thursday, September 27th at 3 Daughters Brewing, located at 222 22nd St. S., St. Petersburg, FL. Doors open to the public at 6pm. The general admission ticket price is $30. Student ticket price is $15. Students must show their student ID at the door.
