Tampa, Fla. – September 6, 2018 – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Andrew O. Gay has joined the firm in its Tampa office as a member of the firm’s nationally recognized Construction practice. His addition comes on the heels of another Tampa construction attorney new hire, Frank T. Moya, who joined the firm earlier this month.
Andrew offers his clients a business and legal “insider’s view” of the construction and real estate industries. Prior to his law practice, Andrew was a Construction Project Manager for Benderson Development Company, a large, privately-held real estate company in Florida. After law school, Andrew was Associate General Counsel at English Construction Company, one of Virginia’s largest general contractors. Andrew then went to work at Gentry Locke in Roanoke, Virginia as an associate attorney in the firm’s Construction Law and Litigation practice group.
His practice primarily focuses on construction contracts and litigation for all sectors of the construction industry – road, bridge, utility, and residential and commercial building. He represents general contractors and subcontractors in payment disputes, contract negotiations, mechanic’s liens enforcement, payment bond claims, scope of work disputes, time and money related claims, and breach of contract actions. He is also OSHA 30 certified. In addition to his construction experience, Andrew has handled various general commercial litigation and employment matters for his clients.
Andrew is admitted to practice in Florida and Virginia. He earned his J.D. from Liberty University School of Law and received his B.S. in Construction Management from Everglades University.
He is a member of the American Bar Association Public Contracts, Forum on Construction Law; The Florida Bar’s Business Law and Real Property Sections; the Virginia State Bar’s Construction Law and Public Contracts, Business Law, and Corporate Counsel Sections; the Roanoke Bar Association; and the Lynchburg Bar Association. He is also an active participant in many trade associations, including the Associated General Contractors of America, and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.
