September 11, 2018 Memorial Program

September 5, 2018 by Post

New Port Richey, FL (September 5, 2018) – Tuesday September 11 at Sims Park (6431 Bank Street) at 7:00p.m.

In keeping our promise, Pasco will never forget the horrific events of September 11th 2001; there will be a 9/11 Memorial on Tuesday, September 11th at 7pm in Sims Park. .  This 17th annual event being planned is a special memorial to help our citizens remember and continue healing while building patriotism. The 9/11 Committee works to continue to unite our community and strengthen our commitment to stand strong against terrorism.

A video presentation by Victoria Kikis will be playing from 6:30pm to 7:00pm. The program officially opens with the Presentation of Colors and Louis Kikis, NYFD and Bob Taylor leading the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00pm, followed by the Posting of Colors by the Pasco Sheriff Department and the New Port Richey Fire Department. Mr. Shawn Foster will emcee for the evening and City of New Port Richey Mayor Rob Marlowe will present opening remarks.

This year’s guest speaker will be Joyce Ng. She was in New York on that day for business when she became temporarily trapped inside 3 World Trade Center when Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower and her building caught on fire.  Now helping others, she published the book, Hotel / 911 that preserves the voices of the people who escaped from 3 World Trade Center. All proceeds go to a non- profit charity called “September 11 Survivors of 3 World Trade Center”.  Her stories should be enlightening on what happened at ground zero that day.

Several local clergy, including Pastor Eric Peters, and Pastor Henry Becoat along with Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky will help us to see the light of hope from this dark day.  Local school children from Odessa Elementary School will be sharing their voices to uplift our spirits and Marydin Llanto from Gulf High school will sing our National Anthem.

For those that come early, the Sheriff’s Department Posey, Military vehicles and the artwork of local students as well as, some 9/11 memorabilia will be on display.

The 9/11 Committee is made up of local individuals, businesses and all levels of government. It is the committee’s honor to organize this Memorial each year. A special thank you to the City of New Port Richey for hosting this Memorial event every year.

PASCO COUNTY WILL NEVER FORGET……
