TAMPA, Fla. – Performing arts training at the Straz Center’s Patel Conservatory is all about, well, performing. That’s the idea behind the Patel Conservatory’s Ovation! student performance group, which performs at numerous venues and functions when not training in rehearsal. Ovation! begins rehearsals this fall, starting September 6.
In Ovation! students learn musical theater performance at the highest level. Strong dancers, actors and singers develop professional stage presence, ensemble and solo performance techniques as they serve as ambassadors for the Straz Center and Patel Conservatory, performing throughout the Tampa Bay area.
Ovation! students rehearse weekly during the fall, with brush-up rehearsals in the spring. The Ovation! student performance group is partnered with the Patel Conservatory advanced class Broadway or Bust, in which students study song interpretation, monologue preparation, cold-reads and dance. Students also participate in exciting workshops with national touring Broadway professionals.
