
TAMPA, Fla. – August 22, 2018 – Suffolk, a $3 billion national construction management firm, has promoted three Florida executives to lead its Southeast region and expand the company’s presence throughout the state.
Pete Tuffo has been tapped as president and general manager of the Southeast region, while Josh Christensen and Joe Fernandez have both been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. The leadership promotions coincide with the region’s continued geographic expansion and growth. This past year, the region’s revenue exceeded $800 million and will see another steady increase moving into 2019.
As president and general manager, Tuffo will oversee Suffolk’s southeast region which includes offices in Tampa, Estero, West Palm Beach, and Miami, Florida. Christensen will be responsible for gulf coast operations, while Fernandez will be responsible for Florida’s east coast operations.
Suffolk has experienced a steady revenue climb in recent years and projects another 20% increase in 2018. The company has added over 200 employees in the last three years, including 60 professionals along Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Tuffo, a 20-plus year industry veteran joined Suffolk in 2012 as vice president of the company’s southwest Florida operations. A Western Michigan University graduate, he holds a B.S. in Construction Management.
Christensen, a 20-year industry veteran and Florida native, joined Suffolk in 2014 as as vice president for Suffolk’s gulf coast operations. He earned a civil engineering degree from Florida State University in 1996.
Fernandez, a 20-year industry veteran and former U.S. Navy Seal team member, has been with Suffolk since 2016, previously serving as vice president. Fernandez earned a construction management degree at Florida International University.
The expanded leadership structure underscores Suffolk’s commitment to Florida and will allow the company to provide even better service to clients in the commercial, multifamily, healthcare, transportation and education sectors throughout the region and nationally. In addition to the four locations in the Southeast region, Suffolk operates offices in Boston, New York City, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.
