
Spring Hill, Florida (August 17, 2018) – Oak Hill Hospital is pleased to announce its inaugural class of anesthesiology residents. Recently, Beginning July 2018, Oak Hill Hospital received institutional accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to increase its Graduate Education (GME) programs from three to six. Oak Hill Hospital previously offered GME programs in internal medicine, family medicine, and transitional year. The hospital is now authorized to expand with additional programs for general surgery, anesthesiology, and emergency medicine.
The anesthesiology program has been authorized for 18 residents starting with six residents in the first year of the three-year program. The program’s director is Dean F. Connors, MD, PhD, MS, FASA (Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists). Dr. Connors is also Program Director for the GME Transitional Year Program.
The inaugural class of Anesthesia Residents includes:
- Luis Aranguren, MD, University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine
- Kaitlyn (Kate) Brunet, MD, Trinity School of Medicine Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
- Daniel Eskander, MD, George Washington University School of Medicine and Health
- Benjamin Segil, DO, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine
- Hossein “Shane” Solimany, MD, Ross University School of Medicine
- Patrick Ward, DO, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
According to the Florida Department of Health, there is a critical statewide need for physicians and the expansion of the Graduate Medical Education programs at Oak Hill Hospital will help to alleviate the shortages. This program is expected to benefit the residents of the local community, since many physicians ultimately will practice where they complete their residency training.
