BRADENTON, Fla. — The full-service practice Coastal Orthopedics recently hired Iris Bernier as the director of revenue cycle and promoted Jo-Ellen Converse to the Ambulatory Surgery Center director.
Bernier brings more than 25 years of in-depth management knowledge in all aspects of revenue cycle management and accounts receivable operations to Coastal Orthopedics. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing all aspects of the billing cycle for Coastal Orthopedics.
Most recently, she managed the day-to-day functions as the director of operations for a health care solutions provider in Missouri. She worked with senior-level management to review financials and performance measurements, coordinate client training, manage customer service teams and establish goals and benchmarks. She has also held various management positions with other health care industry organizations.
With more than 24 years of experience, Converse has worked as a registered nurse in Coastal Orthopedics’ East Surgery Center since August 2017. She has specialized in critical care, cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology and pre-post ambulatory surgical care during her health care career. In her role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the center within the authority of the governing board by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The management spectrum covers planning, organizing, delegating, coordinating, staff utilization, budgeting, controlling and marketing the services provided by the facility.
Prior to joining Coastal Orthopedics, Converse served as the clinical coordinator for an ambulatory surgery center. During her three years there, she delivered direct patient care and managed the daily activities of a pre-post-operative unit. Converse has also worked at a Connecticut-based hospital and held several positions within critical care organizations.
She earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Three Rivers Community Technical College. She holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She was a certified instructor for the Safety Starts with Me program for the Connecticut Hospital Association.
“We are pleased to welcome these two women into the Coastal Orthopedics family,” said Paige LeMay, the chief executive officer of Coastal Orthopedics. “Their comprehensive health care expertise will allow us to better serve our patients and the community.”
