UF and USF Collaborate on BioMedical Research Presentation in Sarasota-Manatee Region

August 7, 2018 by Post

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (August 7, 2018)  — The University of Florida and the University of South Florida are working together with several regional organizations to host a BioMed research presentation in the Manatee-Sarasota region, featuring industry leaders from each university.

BioMed: Research to Reality — Discovery, Innovation, Commercialization will include Dr. Christine Schmidt, Chair and Professor, J. Crayton Pruitt Family Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida; and Dr. Christopher Passaglia, Professor of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering at the University of South Florida.

See how the research in this field can solve real-world problems and improve lives. And learn the business side of creating, launching and funding a BioMed product in today’s marketplace.

And, of course, there will also be opportunities to network with experts and stakeholders in the field of BioMed.

“This is a unique opportunity for biomed professionals, researchers, companies, teachers, students and others to hear firsthand from university researchers who successfully took their biomedical research from concept to production to the commercial market,” said Allen Carlson, Sarasota County Regional Director for UF Innovation Station, Sarasota.

This regional event, organized by the UF Innovation Station, partners the two universities with Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County, the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and CORE at Lakewood Ranch.

The Aug. 8 event will include a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or a cocktail reception from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Lakewood Ranch Country Club, 7650 Legacy Boulevard, Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Admission is $25 per person ($35 at the door, subject to availability) $10 for students and K-12 teachers. Both the luncheon and the reception will feature the same presentation. Registration is online at www.LWRBA.org/biomed.
