He Gives A Triple Dose Of Platelets Every Donation
(Bradenton, FL, August 7, 2018) In 1976, Jim Wubben started donating whole blood with his college buddies and gave off and on after graduation. He started teaching in 1988 at Bradenton Christian School and began to donate regularly at their school blood drives and later became their Blood Drive Chairperson. Since his blood type is AB positive, the Blood Center staff asked him in 2002 to start donating his ‘universal donor’ platelets and plasma, since that would be his best gift for patients. Jim then began to donate in this special way every two weeks, saving hundreds of lives and families along the way. Of the millions that have donated blood in Florida since blood banking began during World War II, Jim will soon join the ranks of the less than 200 people who have given 100 gallons or more of blood!
