TAMPA, FL, August 7, 2018 – Cushman & Wakefield has been selected by Bromley Companies as the exclusive office leasing advisor for Midtown Tampa, a 1.8-million-square-foot, mixed-used project designed to connect Tampa’s downtown with its booming Westshore District. To lead the team, Cushman & Wakefield has welcomed back office leasing expert Robin Bishop, who previously worked with the firm, as a Senior Director.
Bishop has been working with Bromley Companies on the Midtown Tampa project since its early stages through her own brokerage firm, Bishop & Associates, Inc. With the $500 million project officially approved and underway, Bishop has joined forces with Cushman & Wakefield to represent the developer in leasing what is one of Tampa’s largest office development projects in recent history.
“We are thrilled to have Robin Bishop rejoin Cushman & Wakefield to lead the charge on Midtown Tampa. The depth of experience she brings to the table is a tremendous asset to our leasing team,” said Andy May, Executive Managing Director with Cushman & Wakefield, specializing in office leasing. “From a tenant perspective, the Midtown project is a highly desirable option for Class A product in Tampa. Its design embodies everything the modern corporate tenant wants in an office environment today.”
Midtown Tampa’s office component will consist of three Class A office towers totaling 750,000 square feet. The first tower, Midtown West, will break ground in early 2019, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2020. The 10-story, 176,000-square-foot building is slated to be the first speculative office project delivered in the Tampa market in over 10 years. The other two buildings, Midtown North and Midtown South, will follow.
“Bromley Companies’ amazing vision for Midtown Tampa is becoming reality,” said Bishop. “Tampa is ready for this project, and Cushman & Wakefield’s global platform and local market dominance will help put it in the spotlight on a national scale.”
Bishop has 36 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and previously worked for Cushman & Wakefield from 1989 to 1995. During her first stint with Cushman & Wakefield, she worked on such notable projects as Tampa City Center and a major corporate services assignment overseeing Verizon’s 20 million square feet of office space throughout the eastern United States. In 1995, Bishop formed Hogan-Burt-Bishop, the brokerage arm of The Hogan Group. She then went on to serve as Regional President of The Hogan Group until forming Bishop & Associates, Inc., Commercial Real Estate Services in 2000.
“Robin is a veteran broker with an unsurpassed reputation in the industry,” said Nicholas Haines, Chief Executive Officer, The Bromley Companies. “With the support of fellow industry leader Andy May and the rest of the Cushman & Wakefield team focused on leasing Midtown, Robin will sign tenants looking for the best live-work-play destinations in the country.”
Founded in 1972, The Bromley Companies is a national real estate development and investment company that has built a portfolio of retail, office, industrial and student housing assets. The leadership team has been involved with the Westshore Alliance and Tampa Hillsborough County Economic Development Council. Continuing Bromley’s commitment to the region, the $500 million Midtown Tampa reflects Bromley’s vision to deliver Tampa’s first urban high-density mixed-use development.
“Midtown Tampa, with its office, retail, multifamily and entertainment components, is certainly one of the most exciting projects the Tampa market has seen in years,” said Larry Richey, Florida Managing Principal for Cushman & Wakefield. “I’m confident that through Robin Bishop’s great leadership, this project will bring the big names that a project of this quality and caliber deserves.”
Situated at the southeast corner of and North Dale Mabry Highway and Interstate 275, Midtown will have visibility from over 230,000 cars per day. The project is conveniently positioned between downtown Tampa and the Westshore Business District, which is the largest office district in Florida.
In addition to the office space, Midtown Tampa will deliver 240,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space, 400 apartments and a 225-room boutique hotel. Bromley has already secured Whole Foods Market® to anchor the project’s retail component, and Crescent Communities has been selected to develop the multifamily units.
