Pasco Tax Collector’s Staff Raises Over $6,700 for CARES Senior Health Clinic

August 1, 2018 by Post

Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that $6,749.88 was raised to benefit the featured charity of the month in June. CARES (Community Aging & Retirement Services) is a Pasco County-based organization that provides services to seniors so they can stay in their homes and be as independent as possible. The funds were raised through the hard work of the tax collector staff in the five offices located throughout the county.

“We are very appreciative of this charitable effort put forth by the tax collector’s office,” states Jemith Rosa, President & CEO of CARES. “They are a team of civil servants who truly serve their community. The CARES Senior Health Clinic is staffed by volunteer medical professionals devoted to helping low-income people 55 years or older who are desperate for healthcare services. The clinic does not receive any state or federal funding. We are severely challenged and need more medical volunteers, access to specialist consultations, equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers as well as financial assistance. Donations received go toward basic supplies and keeping the doors open.”

“During my tenure as an elected official it has always been by belief that one must put into action steps to help those that are less fortunate or need help to meet specific needs,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Ensuring that CARES receives the funds it needs to help our seniors has always been important to me. The CARES Senior Health Clinic has demonstrated that it meets a need and can operate without the help of government support. The health care professionals who volunteer their time to help this aging and medically fragile population are to be applauded for their work. The community that stepped up to donate over $6,700 to assist in the clinic’s daily operations deserve just as much gratitude for the cash they gave to CARES. From a very grateful tax collector’s office and staff I thank every person who made this charitable promotion a success.”
