
Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that J. Ryan Yant has joined the firm as an associate in its Tampa office. He is a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy section of the National Trial Practice group.
Yant focuses on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law, and has substantial courtroom experience. He has represented both debtors and creditors in Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcies. He has also handled associated contested matters and adversary proceedings, with an emphasis on personal and corporate Chapter 11 debtor representation.
In court, Yant has handled all aspects of client representation and case management from beginning to end. This has included hearings, depositions, mediations, and negotiations with opposing parties. He has also drafted all documents necessary for representation, including complaints, answers, plans, disclosure statements, confirmation orders, motions, responses, objections, applications, and proposed orders.
Before joining the firm, Yant served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roberta A. Colton and the Honorable K. Rodney May at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.
He also worked as an associate at Buddy D. Ford, P.A., a bankruptcy law firm in Tampa, and as a fellowship attorney at St. Michael’s Legal Center, a non-profit organization that provides personal bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, and family law advice and representation.
Yant is a member of The Florida Bar. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law. He received his MBA, with honors, from Stetson University, and his B.S., cum laude, in Business Management from the University of Florida.
