Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) recently announced the addition of a Medical Scribe Professional Training certificate program for health care and non-health care individuals. A medical scribe assists physicians with electronic health records (EHR), maximizing workflow efficiency and productivity so that physicians can focus on providing the best possible patient care. Medical scribes can earn from $10 – $16 per hour, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
Those in the health care field may complete PHSC’s self-paced, online program in as little as two months. Individuals with no health care experience will learn medical fundamentals and specific scribe skills, and can complete the program in four months or less. The PHSC medical scribe program awards a certificate of completion and prepares students to sit for the national Medical Scribe Certification Exam (MSCE) through the American Healthcare Documentation Professionals Group.
