Anonymous Donor to Match First $7,500 Raised

July 12, 2018 [St. Petersburg, FL] – This morning, The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) launched its 4th Annual “Trunks of Hope” campaign online at Trunks of Hope to continue providing Teaching Trunks to educators nationwide free of charge.
The FHM believes that educating children about the past is the first step to creating a world without hate. Last year alone, The FHM’s trunks traveled to twenty-one states, reaching approximately 50,000 students. This year’s “Trunks of Hope” campaign is to cover the 2018-19 school year’s Teaching Trunks shipping costs and allow its message of hope to reach even more students.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, your “Trunks of Hope” donation will go farther than ever. This anonymous donor will match every dollar donated up to $7,500! In addition, “Trunks of Hope” campaign donors are eligible to win free box seat tickets (with dinner and beverage included) to an upcoming Tampa Bay Rays game!
The FHM’s “Trunks of Hope” were developed to teach about the Holocaust, and combat hate and prejudice today. These trunks are designed to give students tangible tools to make their schools, their communities, and the world a better place. Teachers use The FHM’s dynamic trunk curriculum to teach the lessons of the Holocaust. These large Teaching Trunks are designed to accommodate the needs of one class or a team of teachers. The materials have been carefully selected to make sure they are appropriate for students at each grade level. To date, one million students have learned the importance of standing up against bigotry and hate through these trunks.
Teaching Trunks are filled with materials educators can use to help teach their students about the Holocaust, other genocides and character education – books, videos, maps, diaries, photos, artwork, guidelines, lesson plans and more. The Museum sends Teaching Trunks free of charge to any educator in the contiguous United States who would like one.
