The City of New Port Richey and the Parks and Recreation Department are excited to be celebrating the Parks and Recreation Department’s 50th Anniversary along with National Parks and Recreation Month.
Formed by the City Council 50 years ago the Parks and Recreation Department was tasked with overseeing, managing and improving the city’s parks system. The Department’s Mission is to: Create memorable recreational, parks and aquatic experiences to enhance the quality of life. Therefore the Parks and Recreation Department has established a PRIZE PATROL to visit the City’s parks during the month of July and surprise park-goers with gifts suitable for use in the parks.
Be on the look-out for the PRIZE PATROL team wearing bright yellow T-shirts emblazoned with the Parks and Recreation Department logo and the words PRIZE PATROL; they just might be choosing you or your group to have your photo taken and be awarded prizes perfect for your park visit!
The PRIZE PATROL will be visiting all the city parks and the Recreation and Aquatic Center over the course of the month of July. The city parks are; Sims Park, Sims Park Boat Ramp, Orange Lake, Peace Hall, Frances Avenue Park, Grand Boulevard Park, James E. Grey Preserve, Cotee River Park, Jasmin Park and Meadows Dog Park.
